Day 9

Day 9 - Dease Lake, BC to Teslin, YK
Miles today - 337
Total miles - 3749

We left Dease Lake on the Upper Cassier Hwy. which is rougher and more narrow. There are no shoulders at all.

There are sections of the highway that are under construction and are dirt and gravel. Traveling is a bit slow in these parts. Chris was wishing he was on the KLR!

We followed along the Dease river and although the road was rough, the view was spectacular.

We finally crossed over to the Yukon as we got close to the Alaka Highway.

This is the Nisutlin Bay Bridge which crosses over the Taslin Lake. It is the longest steel grated bridge and covers the greatest water span - almost 2000 feet- on the Alaska Highway. We stayed at the Yukon Hotel just across the bridge in Taslin. We were hoping to catch up on the blog, but the WiFi didn't cooperate. The hotel shower sure felt good though after a couple of nights of camping.

  3. Susan, did Boot Camp help Chris fight off the bears while camping? Tell him I'm up to 50 Lb dumbells. He has a lot of catching up to do when he gets back after this ride through the hills playing around camping here and there. Have Fun!
