Trying to Beat the Heat

We did make it out by 4:00. That turned out to be
the hottest part of the day. It was 83 degrees and
extremely muggy! We ran into a few showers
just before Wichita Falls that really cooled things off. Here's a picture of the temp at Childress at a gas stop about 9:30. Not bad for the end of June in Texas. We had cloud cover most of the way to Raton and that helped keep the temps down. We made it to Salida, CO around 5:30 Colorado time - that was about 730 miles. Over all, it was a good first day!

Packed and Ready to Go!

The plan was to be all packed Sunday night and be ready to leave by 4:00 A.M. on Monday morning. The only hard part about leaving is that we have to leave Abbey behind. We're leaving her at home with her buddy Landon to protect the house.
